This article will not discuss cryptocurrencies or ecash. The reason is that after my last article was published, someone sent me a message to discuss Europe. In that article, my view was that Europe would be devoured as a “nutrient” in the war. This view encountered strong opposition, and I think the person who opposed it probably lives in Europe, which is understandable.
In response to this, I would like to expand on the following:
There is a term “fellah”, derived from the Arabic word “فلاح” (filāḥ). Originally, it referred to farmers who continued to till the land along the Nile River after the decline of the ancient Egyptian civilization. The German philosopher Oswald Spengler borrowed this term in his work The Decline of the West and developed it into a core concept of the theory of civilizational cycles — the “fellah people” are the spiritual remnants after the collapse of a great civilization, characterized by cultural stagnation, social atomization, and the disappearance of martial spirit.
Spengler’s “three-stage theory of civilization” holds that the development of a nation follows the trajectory of “Primitive People → Civilized People → Fellah People”:
- Primitive People: Exist in tribal form, bound by blood ties and natural laws.
- Civilized People: Create systems, art, and military hegemony (e.g., the Roman Empire).
- Fellah People: A group that lingers on after a civilization becomes rigid; they lose their historical creativity and become “existing but no longer growing”.
The concept of “fellah” is also used to analyze the status of Abundant martial spirit in modern countries:
- Russia is in the early stage of being a fellah nation: powerful but costly.
- The United States is in the late stage of being a fellah nation: powerful but extremely costly.
- Europe is in the final stage of being a fellah nation: weak and extremely costly.
Based on this theory, Weibo user “山高县2020” analyzed the martial spirit cycle of the British Empire:
- Martial Spirit Rising Period: The pirate era and the Anglo-Dutch Wars. → Lousy, really lousy; reckless, really reckless.
- Martial Spirit Peak Period: The Anglo-French rivalry and the conquest of India. → Powerful yet low-cost, daring to fight and capable of waging wars in various forms.
- Early Fellah Period: The Industrial Revolution and the era of the British Empire. → Although extremely powerful, it no longer dared to easily send troops to war.
- Late Fellah Period: From the Boer War to the Suez Canal Crisis. → Weak and costly, lacking both strength and courage.
- Mummy Phase: From the dissolution of the British Empire to the present. → “Dead but not yet buried”.
The West during the era of line infantry: Unafraid of hardship, unafraid of death, unafraid of losing battles, and unafraid of fighting brutal wars. They were good at studying their opponents and exploiting internal conflicts among them.
The West during the industrial era: Afraid of hardship, afraid of death, afraid of defeat, and afraid of protracted wars. Arrogant and ignorant.
Britain’s peak period was the Crimean War. Today’s Britain has more generals than warships.
If anyone wishes to continue the discussion, I hope that [it] can be based on the above framework, and please put forward your views and supporting arguments. You can find me on X @logospunk
In the paid content, I have outlined the status of the Islamic world, China, India, and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, as well as what forms of war they are capable of waging.
These are my personal views and are for reference only.
Europe’s views are insignificant, because it lacks the ability to back up its own claims.
